Short Course XC Championship
Lothian Running Club were represented in both the Senior Men and Senior Women’s races at Sunday’s Scottish Short Course Cross Country Championships at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
The club fielded six runners in a high quality men’s race, and were led home by Max McNeil who produced a fine performance to finish in 17th place covering the frosty and muddy 4k course in 12 minutes 40 seconds, only 43 seconds behind race winner Alistair Hay, Central AC. Following Max home were club mates 82nd Malcolm Lang [14.23], 109th Euan McInnes [15.02], 112th Colin Partridge [15.05], 126th Owen Williams [15.29] and 170th Stephen Malcolm[17.07]. In the team competition LRC finished in 14th place. 204 runners completed the course.
Jo Williams was the club’s only entrant in an equally competitive women’s race and Jo maintained her recent good form to finish well up in 21st place of the 97 finishers in 15 minutes 35 seconds. The race was won by Laura Muir, Dundee Hawkhill who represented Gt Britain at the World Athletics Championships in the summer.
