BATTLE AGAINST THE ELEMENTS AT GARTMORN DAM
Conditions were far from ideal for Sunday’s Gartmorn ‘6’ Race at Alloa with the runners having to battle the snow and bitter wind chill.It failed however to deter Lothian Running Club’s Edel Mooney who continued her excellent winter season by racing to victory in the Senior Women’s category of the race.Edel covered the 6 mile course which winds it’s way around a loop of Gartmorn Dam in 36 minutes and 29 seconds, this also placed the Irish internationalst in 12th place overall.Club mate and training companion Chloe Cox also ran well to finish in 3rd place in 38m 12s.
Colin Partridge turned in a fine performance in the Senior Mens Race finishing well up the field in 4th place in 34m 58s.
With it being the second event the Lothian club’s internal championship there was a good turn out of blue vests in action. Placings and times are still to be confirmed but these are the club’s athletes outwith the above who participated in the two senior races, Stephen Malcolm, John Malcolm, Jim Alexander, Finlay Slane, Kenton Jones, Shona Young and Saran Jones. A total of 214 runners finished.
Club junior Abbie Malcolm was the only club runner amongst the 88 runners who contested the Junior 2 mile race, Abbie crossed the finish line in 25m 30s which placed her 75th overall and 15th F Under-10.
