STILL IN PRIZES AS GAMES CURTAIN COMES DOWN

The curtain came down on the 2010 Highland Games season at Pitlochry on Saturday and it signalled the end of another successful season for Lothian Running Club members who have been competing on the Tartan Tour this summer.
The club have been regular attenders and have picked up prizes consistently, Saturday was no exception with this time the plaudits going to the youngest member in action.
11 year old Hannah Stewart made good use of her 125 metres start in the 400 metres handicap where to the delight of the big crowd she held off all challengers to break the tape in 51.88 seconds.
Club mate Nicola Kellock followed Hannah over the line in third place.
It was a good day for the Stewart family, John the grandfather of Hannah won both his heat and semi final in the Open 90 metres Handicap before going on to finish in third place in the final behind Sarah Ross Pitreavie AC and Jimmy Beattie Kelty.
In the Open 200 metres Handicap the club’s Darren Thomson also won his heat but had to settle for fifth place in a hotly contested final which was won by Martin Paterson Central AC.
After running fifth in the Open 800 metres Handicap Mhairi Inglis went on to run one of her best races of the season in finishing runner up in the Open 1600 metres Handicap, running from a start of 255 metres Mhairi, who has performed consistently all season ran a strong race in testing gluepot underfoot conditions and was only overhauled in the home straight by eventual winner John Lowis DWF.
Jill Horsburgh just missed out on a prize in eighth place.
Robert Inglis has also had a good campaign and that continued at Pitlochry when he finished in third place in the SHGA 1600 metres Championship behind Craig Robertson, Pitreavie AC and Stuart Ross, VP Glasgow.
Later in the afternoon Robert started from the backmark of 110 metres in the 3200 metres handicap and managed to overhaul all of his rivals with the exception of winner Owen Millar DWF.
The clubs youth runners were also among the prizes, Nicola Kellock won her heat in the 90 metres which progressed her to the final where she finished in fourth place while Alice Horsburgh ran her best race of the season in finishing in second place in the 800 metres Handicap with her training companions Hannah Stewart in third and Lauren Arbuckle fifth.
