RECORD TURN OUT FOR BOXING DAY HANDICAP
BOXING DAY 7K & 14K HANDICAPS
Andrew Heston and Nigel Glover were the respective winners of the Lothian Running Club’s 7k and 14k Boxing Day Handicap races at Beecraigs which enjoyed a record turn out of runners.
In the longer race, Glover, running for Team Noble completed the course in 62 minutes 15 seconds to finish over 4 minutes ahead of his team mates and joint runners up George Robertson and Catherine Noble.
First host club runners home were Alan Robertson and Paul Young in 14th and 15th places respectively.
Michael Reid [Carnethy] posted the quickest time of the day of 49 minutes 46 seconds while the Lothian club’s Sarah Inglis returned the fastest female time of 56 minutes 44seconds.
Andrew Haston was the victor in the 7k handicap, crossing the finish line in 30 minutes 24 seconds well clear of second and third runner’s Samuel Galloway[Corstorphine] and Freddie Carcas[Edinburgh].
The first trio of Lothian club members to complete the course were, 14th Tabitha Ewing, 17th Mary Inglis and 20th Ted Finch.
The quickest male and female times were recorded by junior athletes, Andrew Fischbacher[Linlithgow AC] was fastest male at 26minutes 07seconds, with Keri Greig of the host club stopping the clock at 33 minutes 08 seconds.
