CARNETHY 5 HILL RACE

Lothian Running Club members were out and about in the hills at the weekend taking part in the 42nd running of the Carnethy 5 Hill Race, and Scald Law 4km Junior Race.
The Carnethy race is over a distance of 6 miles with a total climb of 2500 feet over five summits.
Despite the cold, conditions were good for running with the ground firm if a bit icy in places.
For the first time ever over 500 runners finished the race, the first Lothian member over the line was John Malcolm in 137th place timed at 1 hour 07 minutes and 44 seconds.
Following him home were 168 Colin Partridge [1.09.55], 246 Terence Brannan [1.15.12], 322 Davie Bell [1.20.06]. This placed the Lothian quartet 21st in the team competition.
Jill Horsburgh was the only female from the club to take up the challenge, finishing 425th overall and 67th in the women’s category
in 1.29.11.

The club had a winner on the day with Matthew Galloway[U/15] victorious in the Scald Law Junior Race covering the 4k course in 22 minutes 36 seconds.
