DOUBLE SUCCESS FROR IAIN AT INVERKEITHING

INVERKEITHING HIGHLAND GAMES

The club’s Iain Horsburgh left Inverkeithing Highland Games £90 richer on Saturday [6th August] following success in both the Youth’s 800 metres and 1600 metres Handicaps.
This was only after his father had to make an 11th hour dash back home to pick up his spikes which he had forgotten to pack.
The trip would be worthwhile as, firstly running from the front mark of 200 metres in the 800 metres Handicap none of his rivals got a blow in to challenge him as he crossed the finish line in 2 minutes 04.71 seconds. the club’s Nicola Kellock was also in the prizes in 5th place.
Later in the afternoon, despite running from a reduced handicap Iain timed his run to perfection to collar front marker Amy Armstrong, Edinburgh in the home straight before breaking the tape in 4 minutes 36.78 seconds.
Jill Horsburgh mother of Iain also crept into the prizes with a 5th place in the Open 800 metres Handicap, Jill also finished in 7th place in the 1600 metres just missing out on a prize on this occasion.
