Max helps OCU to NAIA finals with another fine run in US.
A fortnight after helping the Oklahoma City University squad to team glory at the N.A.I.A. Mid States Classic Cross Country Championship in Winfield, Kansas, Lothian Running Club’s Max McNeil replicated that performance in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship in Oklahoma at the weekend.
OCU were retaining the title at Woolaston Park and this was their fifth Conference win in five of the last six years and also secures the teams qualification for the N.A.I.A. Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday week. OCU runners came in first, second and third. Oscar Kipkoros, a junior from Iten, Kenya, collected the SAC individual title with a time of 25 minutes, 3 seconds. Max McNeill, a junior from Uphall Station, Scotland, came in next with 25:26, while Moses Dirane, a junior from Hammankraal, South Africa, crossed the finish at 25:48.
