All-American honors for Max
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Max McNeill of the Oklahoma City University men’s track and field team garnered all-American honors for his sixth place finish in the 5,000-meters Saturday in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships at David E. Walker Track.
McNeill, a freshman from Uphall Station, Scotland, garnered his first all-American honors as he finished the race in 14:53.39.
“Max McNeill ran a great race and received his first All-American honor,” OCU track and field head coach Matt Aguero said. “With a lap to go he was in a group that was battling for 2nd. It was nice to see him in the mix the whole race.”
McNeill finished just four seconds shy of the second place finisher Tony Floyd of Madonna (Mich.). Geoffrey Kipchumba of William Carey (Miss.) won the race in a time of 14:42.19.
OCU will begin their outdoor track and field season in the Oklahoma Baptist Open on March 25.
