SCOTTISH ROAD RELAY CH.
On a bright and breezy Sunday afternoon in the region of 400 runners from all over Scotland descended on Almondvale, Livingston for the 2011 Scottish Road Relay Championships.
Running alternate 3.1 mile and 5.8 mile stages, 43 full teams of six contested the Men’s race with 29 teams of four lining up for the Women’s.
Lothian Running Club fielded two teams in each of the races with the Women’s ‘A’ team being the highest placed finishers.
Mhairi Inglis led the team off over the first short leg and produced a fine run to hand over to Edel Mooney in 7th place, Edel then went on to record the fourth fastest individual time of the day over the long leg and passed over to team mate Jocelyn Moar in 4th place, a sterling run from Jocelyn saw her maintain that position before sending final leg runner Lynne Murray on her way.
Despite being overhauled by the runners from the Hunter Bog Trotters and Fife AC teams Lynne turned in a battling performance to bring the team home in a good 6th place.

The Women’s ‘B’ team of Saran Jones[23.21],Jill Horsburgh[45.48[Leanne Webster[25.43] and Suzie Hannah[43.21] finished in 25th place.
In a very competitive Men’s race the club’s ‘A’ team of Robert Inglis[16.30,[Max McNeil,[33.00],Ally Robertson[17.24],Colin Partridge[35,24],Kenton Jones[19.28] and Scott Nelson[37.54] finished well up in 13th place.
The club’s ‘B’ squad made up of veterans, Ian Leggett[23.03],Dave Berrill[39.28],Alex Agnew[22.24],Alan McIntosh[38.13],Kenny Mearns[23.07] and Harry Mulholland[37.19] finished in 38th place.
The overall winners of the Mens race was Shettleston Harriers AC with the team from Kilbarchan AAC taking the Women’s title.
