On behalf of Stirling University Athletics Club I would like to invite you and the athletes of Lothian Running Club to the first Stirling Winter Cross Country Race taking place in the grounds of the university campus.
The event takes place on Saturday 24th January (as shown on the Scottish Athletics website) and entry is available on the day at a cost of £3 for students and under 20s and £6 for seniors and non students. There will be two races. First race starts 1315 which will be the lady’s race. This will be run over a distance of 6km. The second run will be the men’s race that will start at 1400. This will be run over a distance of 9km.
The race is run on a classic cross country course which has hosted British University and College Student’s Cross Country Championships multiple times and is a challenge to any athlete. There are also changing facilities and toilets that are sited right beside the start and finish line which will allow athletes to prepare in the most efficient way before racing.
After the race we will be serving meals for only £1 in our comfortable Union bar. Presentation will also take place there as we award medals to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place from each race. We will also present the championship trophy to the winning club for the first time (championship will be decided on the best combined performances by the top 3 athletes from each club in both races).
Later at night we will be hosting an after race party (strictly 18 and over) from 9pm – 3pm in the newly refurbished function room and private bar in Fubar. Tickets for this event will be sold at the race. The private bar will be available from 9pm -11pm.
We look forward to extending a warm welcome to you and your team. Should you require any information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at gbt00001@students.stir.ac.ukor by phone 0797159144.
Yours sincerely,
GREG TURNER
Vice President of Stirling University Athletics Club and Chief Race Organsier of the Sitrling Winter Cross Country
