RYAN TOP JUNIOR AT STORMY DEVILLA

Despite the threat of Storm Ciara the organisers of the Devilla Forest Trail races at Tulliallan gave the go-ahead for the 15k and 5k events to take place, albeit ‘at the runners own risk‘.

Many chose not to take that risk, however over 300 took up the challenge including 14 members from the Lothian Running Club.

It turned out to be a good day for the blue vests with  four of them attaining podium places in the various age categories. Pride and place goes to Ryan Kirkland who was leading junior after finishing in an excellent  5th place overall.

In the M40 category James Beattie finished in 3rd place with Brian Lees occupying a similar postion in the M50 age group. Christine MacVarish was the first LRC female finisher in 71st place overall and 6th F40.

James Waldie of the Hunters Bog Trotters club was the race winner and there was 331 finishers.

Running for the Ochil Hill Runners Edel Mooney finished 3rd female overall and the winner of the F40 category in 61m 49s.

Cliff Dicker was the sole LRC representative in the 5k finishing 73rd out of 96 finishers and runner up in the M70 category.
