Convincing Valentines win for Jo and a top 8 finish for Josh

There was further success for the Lothian club at the weekend with Jo Williams leading home 335 females to win the Women’s category of the Run Newcastle Valentines 10k and a top 10 finish for Josh Dack in the overall classification.

The Run Newcastle Valentines 10km takes place in the open surroundings of Newcastle’s Town Moor. The traffic-free 10k course is on mainly tarmac paths around the Moor – the course is 2 laps of a flat and fast course.

Jo emerged as a convincing winner of the Women’s race crossing the finish line in 36 minutes 48 seconds, almost 3 minutes clear of her nearest pursuers Elicia Smith[New Marske] and Lucy Bibblestone [Unattached] who were seperated by one second in 39.38 and 39.39 resepectively. In the overall standings Jo finished 13th.

Josh had a good run to finish in 8th place of 315 male competitors who completed the course. Josh stopped the clock at 36 minutes 14 seconds. Overall race winner was Matthew Alderson[Blaydon Harriers, 34.27].
