Jo helps East retain District XC title
Lothian Running Club’s Jo Williams turned in another fine performance which contributed to the East District retaining their title at the Scottish Inter-District Cross Country Championship in Stirling.
The Senior Women’s 6k course held over Kings Park and Stirling Golf Club was a new venue following a number of years at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh.
12 months ago Jo finished in 9th place and on this occasion went one better crossing the finish line in 8th and 3rd of the East points counters.

This Saturday will be another big occasion for Williams as she is set to represent Scotland in the Home Countries International Cross Country in Northern Ireland.
It will be successive selections for Jo in this competition after being part of the quartet who won silver medals for Scotland last year when the event was held in Nottingham. Jo will be joined in Dundonald, Belfast by Rebecca Burns [Edinburgh AC], Michelle Sandison [Springburn Harriers] and Mhairi McLennan [Edinburgh Uni. Hare & Hounds] to represent the Senior Women’s team against the other home nations.

EAST DISTRICT DEBUT FOR HANNAH
Hannah Steel was rewarded for competing consistently over the winter by being selected to represent the East District in the Girls Under-15 4k race at the Inter-District Cross Country Championship in Stirling. In a highly competitive field which included all the leading junior cross country runners in Scotland Hannah finished in 29th place in 17 minutes 02 seconds. The East team finished in 2nd place overall withe title going to the team from the West District.
