Hannah clinches Fife Games title on red ash
Hannah Steel’s successful season on the Highland Games circuit continued at the weekend competing at Inverkeithing on Saturday and Bridge of Allan on Sunday.
Inverkeithing Games sees all the running events take place on the only ash track on the games circuit. This was the final Fife games of the season with the Lothian runner going into it sitting in second place in the youth’s points league for Fife Games. Hannah had to pick up points to have a chance of winning the league, and she duly obliged with a second place finish in the 800 metres handicap behind Archie Suttie, Anstruther and a third place in the 1600 metres where she followed home Rhys Nuttall, Anstruther and Kyle McFarlane, Pitreavie AC.
These placings gave Hannah a total of 19pts to finish ahead of Pitreavie AC sister and brother Erin McFarlane 16pts and Kyle McFarlane 15pts. Andrew Steel was in the prizes in the Youth’s 90 metres handicap , after winning his heat he went on to finish 6th in the final.
Hannah and Andrew had another busy day 24 hours later at the Bridge of Allan Games contesting 4 events each, it was another successful day for Hannah who retained the 13-15 years 800 metres handicap, she also finished in 4th place in both the 400 metres and 200 metres handicaps.
