East League Cross Country[Stirling]
A record 903 athletes finished across all the age groups at the first match in the East District Cross Country League at a wet and muddy Stirling University.
The Lothian club were represented in six of the races. The leading performance came from Jo Williams in the Senior Women’s race. Jo who was the club’s sole representative in the race finished in 6th place covering the 6k course in 23 minutes 14 seconds. Race winner was Hungarian triathlete Fanni Gyurko who was running for Central AC.
The Senior men fielded six runners which was enough to count towards points in the team competition, Malcolm Lang in 44th place led the blue vests home over the 9k course in 33m 45s, he was followed home by 61 Colin Partridge 34.31, 101 Alan Knowles 36.57, 156 Brian Lees 39.22, 194 Alan Cunningham 41.44, 272 Kenny Mearns 49.04. The Lothian team placed 14th out of a total of 34 teams.
Following on from picking up Masters bronze medals at the East District relays the clubs male veterans currently sit in 2nd place in the Masters division of the East League.
The race was won by Logan Rees, Fife AC.
In the Under-17 boys 6k race Ryan Kirkland placed 21st of 36 in 23m 29s. Hannah Steel finished 19th in the under-15 girls 3.3k race crossing the finish line in 14m 48s. Eilidh Howard was 37th of 86 in the under-13 girls 2.4k race in 12m 52s with Eilidh Turner 75th in the Under-11 girls 1,650 metres race in 9m 08s.
