Sarah leads East to silver at UK Counties XC Ch.
Sarah Inglis is ending her winter season on a high. On Saturday the Lothian Running Club member led the Scotland East team to silver medals at the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championship at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.
The Senior women’s race which was incorporated into the final British Athletics Cross Challenge meeting of the season saw Inglis finish first Scot in 9th place in a high quality field.
Sarah, who recently claimed the bronze medal in the Scottish Cross Championship covered the 8k course in 30 minutes 49 seconds. With the first six runners home counting towards team points she was followed across the finish line by 14th Stephie Pennycook 31.08, 25th Morag MacLarty 31.36, 41st Louise Mercer 32.27, 49th Rachel Dunn 32.41 and 61st Kayleigh Jarrett 32.57. These performances ensured silver medals for the Scotland East team behind winners Surrey.27 teams took part. This is the third time in the last four years the East senior women’s team have won medals at the Inter-Counties Championship.
The individual title was won by Jessica Judd, Chelmsford & Essex in 29 minutes 54 seconds, a total of 261 runners completed the course.
Inglis will bring the curtain down on her XC season on Saturday week in Wales when she captains the Scottish senior women’s team in the Home Countries Cross Country match in Port Talbot.
