Sarah posts CIS-leading time, TWU record in 3000m

INGLIS POSTS CIS-LEADING TIME, TWU RECORD IN 3000M

SEATTLE – Trinity Western’s Sarah Inglis (Falkirk, Scotland) clocked the fastest 3000m time of any CIS athlete this season while also breaking a Spartans record and posting a national championship qualifying time as she came second with a time of 9:04.77 at the University of Washington Invitational Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.

Inglis broke her own TWU record by nearly 22 seconds and as she previously clocked a time of 9:26.31 on Jan. 18, 2014. Her time was also nearly nine seconds faster than the best previous time in the CIS this season.

Inglis was one of three Spartans women to earn a CIS standard in the 3000m as Fiona Benson (Dawson Creek, B.C.) and Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) both earned automatic qualification times. Benson was sixth in 9:20.98 and Yee was 13th in 9:29.06.

Also competing for TWU was Meg Harradine (Langley, B.C.) who finished 22nd in the 800m with a time of 2:16.24.

The Spartans will compete in the Harry Jerome Indoor Classic Jan. 7 at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
