Sarah retains title at Lake Padden
(ISN) – BELLINGHAM, Washington – Trinity Western’s Sarah Inglis (Falkirk, Scotland) won the annual Western Washington Cross Country Classic for the second year in a row as she led a Spartans women’s side that put four runners in the top 10 en route to capturing first place in the team event Saturday at Lake Padden Park.
Inglis finished the six kilometre course in a time of 20:52, bettering her winning time from last year by 39 seconds.
After Inglis, TWU’s Fiona Benson (Dawson Creek, B.C.) finished second overall in 21:17, while Alison Jackson (Vermilion, Alta.) was fifth in 21:37 and Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) was 10th in 21:58.
As a team, the Spartans finished first overall with 58 points, bettering last year’s 80-point third place result. The Spartans beat fellow Canadian universities Simon Fraser, Victoria, UBC and Thompson Rivers.
