Lairig Ghru Race 2014

A weekend or so ago, Dave Berrill and I headed up to Braemar to run the Lairig Ghru race.

This is a marathon-ish length race starting in Braemar and ending in Aviemore running through the famous Lairig Ghru pass.  It takes in a few miles of road, lots of forest trails, some steep rocky sections and a few boulder fields – lots of variety.  It’s a highly recommended race for anyone keen to try something different to a road marathon.

The race was won by Alasdair Anthony (Ochils) and the first female was Megan Mowbray (HBT).  Dave and I… also ran.

Results:

1st Alasdair Anthony (Ochils) – 3h21m19s

16th Megan Mowbray (HBT) – 3h48m05s

25th John Malcolm – 3h56m17s

71st David Berrill – 4h44m34s
