Top run from Max & PB for Colin

Lothian Running Club’s Max McNeil produced what was probably his best ever run as a senior athlete when finishing in an excellent 5th place in the Scottish Athletics 10,000 metres Championships on Friday night.

On a damp and windy night at Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow the 20 year old covered the 25 laps of the track in 31 minutes 19.36 seconds, an incredible 1m 18.35s quicker than his previous best for the distance set last August in a Scottish League match in Aberdeen, the new figures also hoisted the Lothian men’s club captain up to 8th place in the Scottish rankings for the 10,000 metres distance.

The title on the night was won by another 20 year old, Luke Traynor from the Giffnock North Club, the Women’s crown went to the evergreen Fiona Mathieson, Falkirk VH who was actually celebrating her 53rd birthday on the night.

Running in the B Race there was also a PB for the Lothian club’s Colin Partridge who finished in 11th place, his time of 35 minutes 06.46 seconds was his first recorded track 10,000 metres run it and was almost 9 seconds quicker than his fastest road race 10k time of 35m 15 secs in 1999 in the Scottish Road Race Championships.
