DAY 3
EDMONTON – ALBERTA
Spartans Sarah Inglis (Falkirk, Scotland) earned a gold medal with a personal best and Spartans record on Saturday, as she finished in top spot in the 1500m in 4:22.15.
In doing so it helped the Trinity Western Spartans women’s team to a best ever third place finish in the CIS Championships.A total of 22 teams contested the events over the three days of the competition.
Sarah’s win erased the disappointment of the previous day when she finished in 11th place in the 3000 metres in 9m 59.66s. The Lothian runner is now the 1500 metres title holder at both the Canada West and CIS Championships.
Saturday’s time of 4:22.15 was over 2 seconds quicker than her previous best of 4:24.21 set outdoors almost 5 years ago at the Under 23/20 Championships at Grangemouth.
Sarah was also a member of the Spartans quartet who finished in 5th place in the 4 x 800 metres relay.
