INGLIS, RELAY TEAMS SPARK SPARTANS AT VANDAL OPEN
MOSCOW, Idaho – Trinity Western middle distance runner Sarah Inglis (Falkirk, Scotland) led the Spartans track and field team on Saturday as she clocked a school record in the 1000m, while both men’s and women’s 4x400m teams also posted all-time bests at the Vandal Open at Kibbie Dome.
On a day when the Spartans set six school records for the second day in a row, Inglis finished first in the 1000m with a time of 2:47.75, which is the second fastest in the CIS this year. Her time bettered the previous TWU record of 2:52.39, which was set by Fiona Benson (Dawson Creek, B.C.) last year. Inglis, who was already ranked atop the CIS individual rankings in the 1500m and 3000m is now in the top two in the country in all three national championship middle distances.
The previous day Inglis, who ran a 2:11[Unofficial] leg was a member of the Spartans quartet that set a new record of 9:03.15 in the 4 x 800 metres relay
“The highlight of the meet was definitely Sarah’s result in the 1000m,” said Spartans coach Laurier Primeau. “We also had some other impressive performances, so we’re coming home pleased with where we are heading as a team. But as happy as we are with these results, the job is far from complete as we continue to work towards excellence.”
