MAX MAKES SCOTTISH DEBUT

Lothian Running Club’s Max McNeill celebrated his Scotland debut by helping his country to second place in the Mens Under-23 race at the Celtic Nations Cross Country Championship in Antrim, with all four team members counting the Scot’s just narrowly missed out on the title to the team from Wales.

The Celtic Nations race which was incorporated into the main IAAF Cross Challenge event saw Max turn in an excellent performance to finish 27th overall, 5th under-23 and 2nd Scot covering the 10k course within the Greenmount Estate in 31 minutes 44 seconds. The Lothian athlete also gained the valuable experience of running alongside some of the World’s top cross country competitors including current World champion Japhet Korir of Kenya who won the Senior Mens race.

There will be no rest for Max as this Saturday he will represent the East District at the BUPA Great Edinburgh International Cross Country and Inter-District Championships at Holyrood Park, the Lothian club will also be represented in the Senior Women’s race by Chloe Cox.
