60th Anniversay Sub4 Markinch-Milton 1 Mile Road Race

60th ANNIVERSARY SUB4 MARKINCH-MILTON IONE MILE ROAD RACE

A Fife A.C organised event brought to you from the organisers of the Ravenscraig Park Mile Series and Giffordtown 5K Road Race. This special 1 mile road race celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first sub 4 minute mile on the 6th May 1954 by Roger Bannister.

The race will be held on a quiet country road point to point course from Markinch, Fife to Milton of Balgonie. This 1 Mile race takes place on a fast gradual down hill course starting close to Markinch Railway Station and finishing at Bellfield farm cottage.

Parking: At Markinch Railway Station car park next to the John Haig Whiskey building or 200m from the Finish in Milton of Balgonie. There will be no parking available at the finish or on the course.

Lead vehicle and Baggage transfer: There will be a lead vehicle which will transfer baggage/clothes to the finish area. A numbered bag matching race number will be issued at registration for use if needed by runner.

Registration: Outside Markinch Railway Station from 18:00pm.

Entry Fee: £3.00 for Scottish Athletics affiliated runners and £5.00 for unaffiliated runners.

Prize giving: Once results have been compiled and verified prizes will be presented outside Markinch Railway station at approximately 20:15.

Prizes: Commemorative 60th Anniversary medal to the first 100 entrants.

1st, 2nd and 3rd – Male&Female
1st U20, V40, V50, V60, V70 – Male&Female.
1st Local ( Markinch* ) Male & Female. *In the event of there being no athlete from Markinch entered or finishing. The award will be presented to the highest placed athlete from the town of Glenrothes or it’s surrounding village’s in the KY7/6 area ( Milton, Coaltown, Star, Leslie )

Race Limit: 150

Start: On the St Drostan’s Cemetery road. Approximately 200m from Markinch Train Station.

Finish: At Bellfield farm cottage Milton of Balgonie.
