Sarah helps Spartans to Conference title
Despite it not being one of her better runs of the 2013 cross country season Sarah Inglis’ 29th place finish at the Canadian Inter-university Sport[CIS] National Championships in London, Ontario on Saturday went a long way in assisting the Trinity Western Spartans women’s cross country team capturing the Canada West Conference Championship for the first time in program history.
Sarah covered the 6 km course at the Thames Valley Golf Course in 22 minutes 46.9 seconds which also placed her 8th in the Canada West Championship which is contested within the CIS National Championships. The LRC member was also named in the Canada West Second Team All Stars.
The Spartans top five women’s runners all finished amongst the top 14 athletes in Canada West as the team won TWU’s first ever conference banner in either cross country or track and field.
Overall, the women’s team finished a program-best fourth in the CIS with 129 points. A big improvement on last year when the team finished 13th overall and fourth in the conference.
In her previous outings this cross country season Sarah has finished 1st twice and 5th, the next major event for the Spartans will be the Canadian Cross Country Championships at the end of the month in Vancouver.
