Recognition Awards

At this years AGM, in addition to presenting to the winners of the Club’s Cross Country series, and Club Championships, we have decided to introduce some additional awards recognising the achievements and contributions of some of our most outstanding and dedicated members.

I’m sure there are a large number of people in the club deserving of an award, and in some ways everyone who turns up to training (both coaches and atheletes), enters races, or contributes to the club in other ways, is deserving of recognition.  However we have chosen to give awards to just a few exceptional individuals who hopefully provide inspiration to the rest of us.  We will be giving awards for the following categories:

  • Male and Female Athlete of the year (senior and U20s)
  • Male and Female Junior Athlete of the year (U17)
Essentially this is a performance related award.  Awarded to those athletes who are considered to have produced the best performances throughout the year.  This might be one or two exceptional performances, or for maintaining a consistent record throughout the whole year.
  • Most Improved Athlete (any age group)
Recognising someone who has put in the effort, tried hard and seen improvements as a result.
  • Outstanding Contribution to the Club
An award to recognize someone who has devoted a lot of time and effort for the benefit of the club.  Might be an athlete, coach, or anyone involved.

We would like to hear nominations from our members for each of these awards before Fri 15th (sorry for the short notice).  Just send us an email with your nomination and a couple of sentences explaining why to info@lothianrunningclub.co.uk

A panel made up from a variety of roles in the club (athletes, coaches, etc) will make a final decision.
