Ben Nevis Race 2013

Lothian had a couple of entries in this year’s Ben race – Tosh Brannan running  his umpteenth and me running my second.

The weather was much more forgiving this year and high clouds meant that there were cracking views of the surrounding Mamore ridge and I even got a sneak peak of the Ben’s legendary North face… not that I spent much time looking at anything but the rocky ground.

The Ben is definitely a daunting prospect, with a long slog of a climb from near sea level to the highest point in Britain.. and then there’s the steep, rocky descent which leaves you jelly-legged for the final mile of road at the end.

Finlay Wild won for the fourth successive year in little over 90 minutes, with Angela Mudge winning the women’s race in 1h52m.

Lothian Results:

96th John Malcolm 2h 05m 20s

184th Tosh Brannan 2h 18m 57s
