Huge Entry for Age-Group Championships
The scottishathletics McCain Age Group Champs are coming up this weekend – and there has been a truly incredible response in terms of entries.
Just one short of 850 athletes have put themselves forward for the action at Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 level over two days at the Emirates Arena.
And the entry tally of 849 athletes is close to being 300 athletes up on the 557 youngsters who were entered at the Kelvin Hall a year ago.
It follows a 68 percent rise in entries for the McCain National Indoor Open and the biggest entry field for the scottishathletics National Cross Country champs for 16 years.
The Under-18s and Under-20s will compete on Saturday at the Emirates and it is good to see almost 100 more athletes at Under-18 looking to take part now than a year ago.
Come Sunday, the younger ones are centre-stage with the Under-14s and Under-16s champs at the £113m venue in Glasgow’s east end.
