DOUBLE PB FOR MAX AT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lothian Running Club’s Max McNeil had to run a 1500 metres PB in his heat to qualify for the final of the Men’s 1500 metres at the Scottish Indoor Athletics Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Sunday.

Running in the first of two heats, Max finished in 5th place recording a new PB of 4 minutes 12.05 seconds, just over a second quicker than his previous best set at the same venue at the Open meeting last month.

However, with it being only the first three runners from each heat along with the four fastest losers who would qualify for the final Max had to endure a nerve racking wait until until the second heat was run to see if he had qualified for the final.

As it proved his PB was enough to see him progress, albeit by a mere .52 of a second. In a good quality 10 runner final the Lothian runner produced another fine run to lower his PB figures once again finishing in 8th place in 4 minutes 11.10 seconds behind winner Andrew Crichton, Edinburgh AC.
