CLUB LADIES EXCEL AT DECHMONT

EAST DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE[MATCH TWO – DECHMONT LAW, LIVINGSTON]

700 runners of all ages descended on Livingston on Saturday for the second of three matches in the 2012/13 East District Cross Country League. All of the local athletic clubs were well represented at the event which was held at a cold and muddy Dechmont Law.

Meeting hosts, Lothian Running Club had reason to celebrate with their senior women’s team excelling over their home course to take both individual and team honours in the Ladies 6.4km race.

Irish international Edel Mooney who has been in fine form this autumn produced another exceptional performance to lead home a field of 110 runners to take the title. And with team mates Sarah Inglis and Chloe Cox both turning in battling performances to cross the finish line in 5^th and 6^thplaces respectively the club were also the leading team on the day.

There was also local success in the age-group category’s with Livingston AAC’s Isla Calvert and Jake Thomas the respective winners of the Girls Under-11 and Boys Under-17 races.

Linlithgow AC boasted their small clubs biggest ever turn out of runners at an East League match.
