Words from the President.

I would just like to say what an honour and privilege it has been to serve as Lothian Running Club’s President this past year. During this period we, your committee, have consolidated the club, seen membership rise, witnessed many extraordinary performances, delivered a high class, well attended trail race, set up the Lothian Development Squad feeder club, and through our coaching staff consistently delivered quality training sessions. I wish to thank all of you for your time, effort, input, resources and help. Without you our club couldn’t run.

Sadly I shall be stepping down from the President’s role in November.  I feel the club is at the beginning of something new and exciting. Certainly, the London Olympics has generated a lot interest from potential athletes throughout West Lothian. As you may know we welcome all-comers at Lothian Running Club. But to deliver training sessions we need coaches and helpers. We are working on a development plan for the future but are reliant upon volunteers to attain our objectives. We also hope to achieve Club Accreditation over the next 12-18 months, and see the inclusion of a Club Together Officer to help promote our club.

Saran, our Coaching Coordinator, has included a piece elsewhere in this issue where she details who is remaining in their committee/club post, and which roles are available. Any amount of help would be greatly appreciated. Please speak to us if you feel you can contribute, and give something back, to your club  (contact numbers on website).

Our club AGM will take place on the third Wednesday in November (21st) and will be held at Inveralmond Community High School, Livingston. Please check for further details (Facebook or Up & Running).

Thank you for allowing me this role within our club. It has been a special year.
