PENICUIK CC 10K
Penicuik CC [Report from Brian Reid
On Easter Sunday, Leanne Webster and myself, took part in a very low key 10k race with approximately 40 runners starting from and organised by Penicuik Cricket Club. The weather was unusually pleasant for a Penicuik spring day without a hint of sleet or snow.
The first half of the race is very scenic, running down Peebles Road onto a trail which runs parallel to the river until you reach Auchendinny where the only significant uphill section leads you back on to the main road at Glencorse Barracks. After that the route follows the main road back in to Penicuik and back up to the Cricket club where a run round the perimeter of the grounds leads you to the finish line.
I finished 5th male in 44mins 20 and Leanne finished in the First lady spot in 44mins 40, which was a remarkable 5 minutes faster than her time last year. I should perhaps add that she won last year as well.
Leanne’s efforts were rewarded with a piece of crystal and a bottle of Champagne.
Well done Leanne.
