OVERALL 4TH FOR SARAH AT EASTER FESTIVAL

ISLE OF MAN EASTER ATHLETICS FESTIVAL

Lothian Running Club’s Sarah Inglis spent a hectic Easter weekend on the Isle of Man competing in three races in the same number of days at the 50th Isle of Man Easter Athletics Festival. On this ocassion Sarah was running in the green vest of Edinburgh University Hares and Hounds.

The action kicked off on the evening of Good Friday with the Women’s 10k Road Race, which took place along a scenic route in the Port Erin,St Mary’s area. Sarah produced a fine performance to finish in 4th place in 36 minutes 51 seconds behind winner and fellow Scot Rosie Smith, [Hunters Bog Trotters]. 112 Completed.
 
The following afternoon saw the runners move on to contest the gruelling Peel Hill Race, and it’s steep climbs, the women’s race was over a distance of 3 miles and it saw Sarah , who is not a hill specialist, come home in 10th place in 18 minutes 31 seconds. Victory went to a former overall winner of the event Olivia Walwyn Bush [Durham Uni Old Girls].87 Completed.
 
The third and final event for the women was a 5k Road Race on the morning of Easter Sunday. Sarah, who was the overall winner of the event in her only other appearance in 2010, turned in her best performance of the three days, covering the course along the Douglas Promenade in 17 minutes 39 seconds which placed her 3rd, with Rosie Smith again crossing the line first.
 
Once all the results had been tabulated it showed Sarah’s 4th, 10th and 3rd places had amassed her 17 points which placed her a fine 4th place overall. Final individual overall placings1st Rosie Smith, HBT [4pts], 2nd Olivia Walwyn-Bush,Durham Uni Old Girls [5pts], 3rd Claire Duck, Leeds/Doss AC [11pts], 4th Sarah Inglis, Edinburgh Uni [17pts]. In the women’s team contest Edinburgh Uni finished in 6th place overall.
