LOW CLUB TURN OUT AT NATIONAL XC

Despite it being the biggest entry of runners at the National Cross-Country for 15 years, somewhat disappointingly, it was the lowest ever turn out from Lothian Running Club since they first participated in the event back in 2001.
A total of only 13 runners from the club contested the various races at a bitterly cold  Callendar Park on Saturday.
The only two runners in the Junior races were Keri Greig and Bethany Nelson who both contested the Girls Under-15 4000mts race.
It saw Keri finish in 15th place [17m 21s] and Bethany 66th in [20.41]. 71 Completed.
Lana Turnbull was the sole entrant in the combined Women’s Under-20/ Under-17 race where she came home in 55th position covering the 5000mts course in 21 minutes 07 seconds. 84 Completed.
For the first time ever the club didn’t have enough runners in the Senior womens race to count towards the team competition.
Of the trio who did contest the 8000mts race Sarah Inglis crossed the finish line 16th in 31 minutes 53 seconds closely followed two places further back in 18th by Chloe Cox [32.06] with Saran Jones 136th in [39.23]. 234 Completed.
The Senior Men’s race was over 12000mts and had a big field of 505 runners, first club man home in 147th place was Colin Partridge in [48.24], following him home were 217 Graeme Ackland [50.29], 279 Kenton Jones [52.40], 322 Richard Docherty [54.24], 366 Stephen Malcolm[56.06], 450 Kenny Mearns [1.01.15], 493 Colin Banham [1.07.23]. In the Men’s team competion Lothian finished 32nd out of 33 teams.http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/index.php?p=80&itemType=fixtures&itemId=14263
