INDOOR MEDALS FOR MAX & SARAH

Lothian Running Club’s Max McNeil and Sarah Inglis both claimed gold medals in their respective categories at the National 3000 metres Indoor Championships at the Kelvin Hall on Saturday.In the combined Senior/Under-20/Under-18 Men’s race a delighted Max finished in 6th place overall but victorious in the Under-20 category in a time of 9 minutes 17.26 seconds.
 
The Women’s race also combined the three age-groups, and it saw Sarah Inglis turn in another fine performance only to be denied overall victory in the shadow of the winning post.
As the race progressed it turned into a three-way battle between Sarah, under-20 athlete Rhona Auckland from the Banchory /Stonehaven club and Falkirk Victoria Harrier veteran Fiona Matheson.
After the 15 laps it was Auckland who prevailed in the race to the finish line in a time of 9 minutes 56.20 seconds, a whisper ahead of Inglis 9.56.42 with Mathieson just behind in 10.02.12.
With Auckland taking the under-20 gold it saw Sarah rewarded with the gold in the Senior women classification.
