STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING FOR JILL DESPITE TAKING WRONG COURSE!

Updated: 2010-03-23
Saran Jones and Jill Horsburgh braved extreme cold and wet conditions to contest the Ultimate Cartmel 18k Trail Race Challenge on Saturday 20th March.
Jill described the course, ”the going was very heavy, where it wasn’t uphill it was muddy, where it wasn’t muddy it was rocky”.

Despite taking the wrong course Jill still emerged the winner of the Female vet 50 category, Jill went on ”there was a serious incident which the marshalls left to attend, this resulted in quite a few runners taking the wrong route, including myself, which cost me about three minutes”.

Jill eventually completed the gruelling course in 1 hour 49 minutes 57 seconds which placed her 122nd overall and 1st FV50 which won her a prize of some large sticky toffee puddings, of which i have been reliably informed have been partly devoured already!

Jill went on to comment on her younger club mates performance, ”Saran had a much better race than me, although she didn’t get lost and as she’s not as old as me she didn’t get a prize however!”.

Saran actually finished some 7 minutes quicker than Jill in 1 hour 42 minutes 35 seconds which placed her 92nd overall and 3rd FV40, but alas no sticky toffee pudding!
A sterling effort from both in the horrible conditions, well done.

Jane Moncrieff was also declared to take part but failed to make the start line due to an unfortunate injury.
